What
is ? |
is a bibliographic
database and reference management program, available for either Windows
or Macintosh operating systems.
EndNote allows you
to keep in touch with all your references. Store them systematically
in a database properly designed for bibliographic data - journal
articles, books, book chapters, conference proceedings, magazine
articles, audiovisual material, patents, or even your own reference
type definitions. Forget the 5 x 3 filing cards, backs of envelopes,
etc.! |
| Searching: |
Use EndNote's
powerful search capabilities to locate the references you need. Search
your reference database or on-line databases swiftly for references
meeting Boolean criteria - e.g. "Find all the references
that contain the keywords 'sleep' and 'snore', with 'Smith' as
one of the authors but not 'Jones'". EndNote enables you to
store your searches in custom and smart groups. |
| Citations
and bibliographies: |
Include citations
in your manuscripts, and have EndNote format
the citations and bibliographies automatically, in any style you
specify. Just locate the reference you wish to cite and ask EndNote
to insert the citation at the cursor position in your word processor
text. When your citations have all been inserted, specify the formatting
style for citations and bibliography and EndNote
will automatically format the citations and compile and format the
bibliography. Or use EndNote's Cite While You Write ("CWYW") feature
to specify your desired formatting style in advance, and have the
text citations and bibliography continuously updated automatically
as you write. |
|
References from CD and on-line sources: |
EndNote can locate on-line reference sources conforming to the Z39.50 protocol,
conduct keyword-based searches, and download the results directly into
your EndNote library data files. Or it can filter the results of suitable
CD or on-line searches downloaded into tagged text files, again directly
into your EndNote library files. These procedures can save you countless
hours in library literature searches and in tedious keyboard data entry. |
